Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford was honoured with the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award at the 2026 Actor Awards, where the celebrated star delivered an emotional reflection on his decades-long journey in cinema.

The award was presented by actor and long-time friend Woody Harrelson, who praised Ford’s versatility beyond the screen highlighting his skills as a pilot and carpenter, and describing him as a magnetic presence whose impact extends far beyond his performances.

Best known for his legendary roles in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, Ford responded with laughter to Harrelson’s glowing tribute before taking the stage to a standing ovation. A tribute montage tracing his six-decade career preceded his speech.

Addressing the audience, Ford expressed gratitude while joking that it felt “a little strange” to receive a lifetime honour when he still considers himself an active, working actor.

He candidly revisited the early phase of his career, recalling nearly 15 years of balancing acting gigs with carpentry before landing a breakthrough role in a major hit film. Ford credited filmmaker George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg for believing in him during a crucial period, acknowledging their unwavering support as pivotal to his success.

Reflecting on the craft of acting, Ford spoke about the privilege of portraying diverse lives and telling stories that foster emotional connection and shared understanding. Calling himself fortunate, he said he remains thankful for meaningful work and the collaborators who shaped his path.

With this recognition, Ford becomes the 61st recipient of SAG-AFTRA’s highest honour. Over the years, he has also received the Critics’ Choice Career Achievement Award and the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
