Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday flagged off 58 modern firefighting vehicles for the State Fire Services Department.

The flag-off ceremony was held at the second steel bridge on the newly inaugurated E3 Seed Access Road in Undavalli village of Tadepalli mandal, Guntur district.

The new fleet, procured at a cost of Rs 40 crore, comprises 25 advanced firefighting vehicles, 20 water bowsers and 13 Quick Response Multipurpose Firefighting Vehicles.

The 25 advanced vehicles will be deployed to respond to emergencies, particularly in rural and forest areas, while the 20 water bowsers will ensure a continuous water supply to tackle major fires.

The 13 Quick Response Multipurpose Firefighting Vehicles will help fire personnel reach narrow and congested areas quickly, the government said.

In the first phase, the government had provided 65 firefighting vehicles to the department at a cost of Rs 33 crore, it said.
