India on Wednesday strongly denounced the drone attack on Kuwait International Airport that resulted in the death of an Indian citizen and injuries to several others, urging all parties involved in the ongoing West Asia conflict to refrain from targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed grief over the loss of life and reiterated India's longstanding position that non-combatants and essential civilian facilities must be kept out of the conflict.

"We strongly condemn the attack on Kuwait International Airport in which an Indian national lost his life and several other Indian citizens sustained injuries. Since the beginning of the conflict in West Asia, India has consistently stressed that civilian populations and infrastructure should not be targeted. We once again call upon all sides to cease such attacks," the ministry said.

The MEA extended condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that Indian authorities were actively assisting those affected by the incident.

"Our heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved family. The Embassy of India in Kuwait is providing all necessary assistance to the injured and remains in close coordination with local authorities to ensure the welfare of Indian nationals," the statement added.

The ministry also noted that Indian diplomatic missions across the region remain vigilant and continue to assist members of the Indian community amid the evolving security situation.

Separately, the Embassy of India in Kuwait confirmed the death of the Indian national and said it was working closely with Kuwaiti authorities while maintaining contact with the victim's family.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the embassy said it was closely monitoring developments and extending support to both the bereaved family and those injured in the attack.

According to Kuwait's Ministry of Defence, multiple hostile drones struck Terminal 1 of Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday, causing extensive damage to the passenger terminal and resulting in casualties and injuries.

Kuwaiti Defence Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi described the strike as an act of "criminal Iranian aggression" and said the country's armed forces were coordinating with relevant agencies while remaining on high alert.

He stated that security forces were fully prepared to respond to any further developments and were taking all necessary measures to safeguard national security and maintain stability.

Meanwhile, Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) had launched retaliatory operations targeting the United States Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain.
