Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Friday commenced his two-day tour of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where he will participate in various events on 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign and the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram', officials said.
Radhakrishnan, who was travelling on a special aircraft, landed at INS Utkrosh, a naval air base close to Veer Savarkar International Airport, this afternoon and was welcomed by senior administrative officials.

Upon his arrival, Radhakrishnan went to Lok Niwas where he held a meeting with Lt Governor D K Joshi.
The Vice President will visit the Cellular Jail National Memorial this evening and pay tributes at the Martyrs' Column, offer respects at the Swatantrata Jyoti, and visit V D Savarkar's cell, the officials said.
Later, he will also attend the 'light and sound show' showcasing the saga of India's freedom movement and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters at Cellular Jail National Memorial, they added.
On August 9, the Vice President will participate in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyaan' by hoisting the national flag at Flag Point in Sri Vijay Puram in the morning.

Later, he will attend the state function 'Tiranga concert on Vande Mataram' at an auditorium.
In the afternoon, the Vice President will visit the historic Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island and depart for New Delhi in the evening.
