Joining the nationwide outrage on the gruesome beheading of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur on Tuesday afternoon,  Syed Zainul Abedin Chisti, Sajjadanashin (descendent) of Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Ajmer declared that “at no cost, shall we allow the Talibani culture into India even if it costs us our lives.”

He was referring to the beheading of an Udiapur man by two Muslim men, who had walked into his tailoring shop on the pretext of ordering a dress to be stitched, and hacked him with a butcher’s cleaver.

He told media persons: “I condemn the barbaric incident in Udaipur in the strongest possible terms.”

Syed Zainul Abedin is a descendent of Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti, the founder of the Chisti sect of Sufis whose mausoleum is revered by Hindu and Muslims alike.

He made a strong plea to all Indians to maintain peace and unity of the country at this crucial juncture. He said such barbarism is not only meant to defame Islam and the religion but it also is aimed at vitiating the environment in India and killing the innocents.

He said the action of the killers was not based on the teachings of the Holy Quran or the tenets of Islam. “Also, the Prophet, whose name was being misused by the killers, has not permitted any retribution in his name.”

He quoted an incident from Prophet Mohammad’s life to make his point. He said the Prophet crossed a particular path every day and a woman would throw garbage on him. He never reacted.  One day the woman did not throw the garbage and the  Prophet was worried about her. He inquired about her well-being and was told that she had taken ill.

“The Prophet not only accepted her apology but also looked after her,” he said.

“When all this has been done (Apologies for inappropriate words used for the Prophet)has been done, I wonder what these barbarians want to prove about Islam and themselves by such nuisance.”

He said Rajasthan has always been a land of peace and amity. “Rajasthan is the land where the Dargah of Moinuddin Chisti, whose message is of universal love and peace and the only temple of Brahma at Pushkar exists is a land of syncretism from where the message of peace emanate for the world.”

He asked the authorities to invoke all the relevant penal sections of the IPC and CrPC against the two killers of Kanhaiya and put them on trial at the earliest.
