Newly appointed members of nomadic communities body take oath

New Delhi

Narayan Dewasi and Swaroop Singh Banjara, the newly appointed members of the governing body of the Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC), on Wednesday took the oath of office.

Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Chairman of the DWBDNC, administered the oath to the two members at the ministry's office here.

Dewasi and Banjara pledged to discharge their duties faithfully and conscientiously and do right to all persons belonging to De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities in accordance with the terms of reference of the board, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will, the ministry statement said.

Dewasi and Banjara were appointed as members of the governing body of DWBDNC for a tenure of three years from the date of joining or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Banjara assumed charge on September 17, while Dewasi assumed charge on September 25.

Pant expressed hope that the appointment of the new members will strengthen the governing body in carrying forward its mandate and advancing initiatives for the welfare, socio-economic development and empowerment of DNT communities.

The DWBDNC works towards addressing the welfare and development concerns of de-notified, nomadic and semi-nomadic communities and supporting initiatives aimed at their socio-economic development and empowerment.
