Fashion’s biggest night is almost here. The Met Gala 2026 will be held on May 4 at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s theme, Costume Art, along with the dress code Fashion Is Art, is expected to bring a striking blend of creativity, couture, and celebrity glamour to the red carpet.
Amid growing buzz around the Indian celebrity lineup, sources close to NDTV have confirmed that filmmaker Karan Johar will attend the Met Gala this year, marking his debut appearance at the prestigious global fashion event.
However, actor Deepika Padukone, whose name had also been linked to the guest list, will not be attending. Sources revealed that Deepika is currently spending time away on a vacation with her husband, actor Ranveer Singh.
The update comes shortly after the couple announced that they are expecting their second child. Sharing the news on Instagram, Deepika and Ranveer posted a heartwarming picture featuring their daughter Dua holding a positive pregnancy test kit. The caption included two evil-eye emojis, keeping the announcement simple yet emotional.
Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in November 2018 in an intimate yet lavish wedding ceremony at Lake Como, Italy. The celebrations honoured both Deepika’s Konkani traditions and Ranveer’s Sindhi heritage.
The two stars first crossed paths while filming Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela in 2013. After years of dating, they got engaged privately before making their relationship public ahead of their wedding. The couple welcomed their daughter Dua on September 8, 2024.

Fans in India can catch the Met Gala 2026 red carpet live on Vogue’s official YouTube channel. Coverage is expected to begin around 6:00 pm EDT on May 4, which translates to approximately 3:30 am IST on May 5.
This year’s gala will be co-chaired by Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, while Lisa joins the host committee, promising another unforgettable evening of fashion and celebrity moments.
