Amin Sheikh of Dhule district in Maharashtra has set a unique example of honesty and humanity by returning gold ornaments worth approximately ₹ 10 lakh to their owner.

Amin Sheikh, a scrap dealer had collected scrap from Bhushan Rajput's house in his lorry.

It was a big consignment and his mother offered to help him in sorting it as Amin proceeded to pick up more trash. In the collection, she discovered a mangalsutra and four gold bangles.

She kept the golden ornaments in the cupboard for safekeeping and Amin later contacted the Rajput family and returned it over.

When Bhushan Rajput knew his gold was safe, his happiness knew no bounds. Impressed by Amin's honesty, he rewarded him with a mobile phone worth Rs 15,000.

The incident happened on June 8, when Bhushan Rajput had returned from a function in Nandurbar with his mother. The mother took out her jewelry and kept it in the cupboard, but by mistake, it fell into the bundle of newspapers meant for giving away as junk.

When Amin came to collect the junk from the house, the bundle of newspapers he picked also included some 10 tolas (100 grams) of gold jewelery.

The family found the jewelry missing the next day. The family checked with Amin who told them that he had resold the whole consignment to another dealer. He had no idea that his wise mother had picked the gold and kept it safely.

The family looked into the recording of the CCTV footage but no concrete information was found.

Amin then spoke to his mother on the phone about this incident and she told him that she had picked it up and kept it safely.

His mother was not at home; she had gone to Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh. As soon as she returned, Amin contacted the Rajput family and returned their ornaments.

Interestingly, Amin was once a student of Bhushan Rajput's father, Sanjay Rajput, a retired headmaster.

The Rajput not only praised Amin for his honesty but also expressed pride in his education and upbringing.

A member of the Rajput family said, “People like Amin keep the hope of society alive.”

Bhushan Rajput said, “The honesty shown by Amin, whom we call Amu Kabarwala, is rare in today's times. When everyone doubts each other, Amin has set an example of trust and good faith. This incident not only shows Amin's honesty but also shows that humanity is not completely dead yet. People like Amin are a shining ray of hope in society, who show that truth and honesty are still alive - they need to be recognized and appreciated
