Shooting World Cup: India climbs on top of medal tally

India won one gold and three silver medals on day five of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup currently underway in Changwon, Korea.

With Thursday’s haul, India has climbed to the top of the medal tally.

The day began on a golden note for India as the Men's 10m Air Rifle team beat Korea 17-15 in the gold medal match.

Arjun Babuta, Shahu Tushar Mane and Paarth Makhija combined effectively to ward off the Korean challenge after being down 11-15 at one stage.

Later the Women's Rifle team of Elavenil Valarivan, Ramita and Mehuli Ghosh settled for a silver medal going down 10-16 to the Koreans.

In the pistol events, Shiva Narwal, Naveen and Sagar Dangi lost to the Italians Paolo Monna, Alessio Torracchi and Luca Tesconi 15-17 to settle for the silver medal.

India's third silver of the day came in the 10m Air Pistol Team Women event. Rhythm Sangwan, Yuvika Tomar and Palak lost to Korea 12-16 in the gold medal match.

India now has a total of three gold, four silver and one bronze medal in the championship.
