India finished eighth in its first-ever participation at the WorldSkills Asia Competition (WSAC), winning one silver, two bronze medals and three medallions for excellence, officials said.

Held from November 27–29 in Chinese Taipei, the event saw participation from 29 countries. India fielded 23 competitors across 21 skill categories.

Women competitors delivered standout performances, contributing majorly to the medal haul and highlighting the growing presence of young women in India’s skilling ecosystem, an official statement said.

Skill Development Minister Jayant Chaudhary said the results reflected the “confidence, creativity and discipline” of India’s youth, crediting competitors, trainers and the wider skills ecosystem.

Participants were chosen through the IndiaSkills National Competition 2024 and underwent extensive industry-led training.
